Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC) Local Plan Update

In recent weeks there have been further announcements from Government regarding changes to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). These have indicated that the new housing number calculation methodology will only be applied six months after the introduction of the NPPF, therefore reducing the urgent need for submission of the Local Plan by 31 March 2018.

This relaxation in timescales provides CBC with an opportunity to continue working with Luton Borough Council under their duty to co-operate. CBC has indicated that they are close to agreeing a statement of common ground with Luton BC which would be beneficial to both local authorities at the examination stage. Therefore, CBC anticipates putting the Local Plan to Full Council on 26 April, for approval to submit it to the Planning Inspector by 30 April 2018.
