Bedford Local Plan Update

Bedford Borough’s Executive Committee have last night agreed to the recommendations set out in the agenda report. This means that the Local Plan will not be submitted to the Secretary of State and that more work on the evidence base will be carried out. Officers are considering shortening the plan period to reduce the number of housing and eliminate the need for a garden village. In terms of timescales, there is going to be another round of consultations in Autumn 2018 and the Council hopes to submit the Local Plan by the end of the year.
