Strawberry Star buys site near Luton airport

Strawberry Star has acquired a 6.9-acre site near Luton airport as the London-based developer looks for opportunities outside central London. In an interview with Property Week, chairman Santwosh Gowda said it was Luton’s connectivity to London, the M1, M6 and M25, and Luton International Airport that made the site an attractive location for development.

The consented scheme, worth £260 million, will be made up of 685 homes, a 200-bedroom hotel, and other facilities. Strawberry Star is looking for opportunities in Barking and Dagenham where property prices are more affordable for first-time buyers and have listed an investment vehicle on The International Stock Exchange (TISE) to secure funding for future acquisitions.
