Optimis successfully negotiates a significant reduction in affordable housing for development in Ramsgate

Optimis is delighted to have negotiated the removal of all on-site provision of affordable housing from a major development in Ramsgate, Kent last month.

Working with architectural practice Cook Associates to secure permission for 17 residential dwellings, Optimis prepared and submitted a viability assessment which was able to demonstrate that the substantial costs required for remediating the site reduced the scheme’s viability to such an extent that the provision of affordable housing on site would render the scheme unviable.

Utilising our skills in negotiation, we were able to demonstrate that a reduced financial contribution in lieu of on-site provision would be appropriate in this instance. As a result, the client secured planning permission for the scheme and is able to viably deliver much needed housing in the local area.

If you have, or are in the process of, submitting an application which may require the provision of affordable housing or other planning obligations, please do not hesitate to get in touch to see if Optimis can assist you.
