Optimis secures outline planning permission for residential development in Central Bedfordshire

Optimis is pleased to have successfully secured outline planning permission for up to 26 dwellings in Blunham, Central Bedfordshire. The scheme’s evolution started in late 2017 and, following pre-application and community engagement, the proposed development was amended to take into account comments that were received throughout this pre-submission process.

The site is surrounded on three sides by residential development and therefore presented a logical infill. Whilst the site’s location raised some initial concerns relating to the impact on the landscape and Conservation Area, through the provision of landscape buffers on the northern and southern boundaries, along with the submission of supporting technical reports, the overall benefits of the proposed development were considered to outweigh any potential impact on these elements.

The application was heard at the Council’s Development Management Committee on the 15th July 2019 with an Officer recommendation for approval. The Committee agreed with the Officer’s positive recommendation and resolved to grant permission, subject to S106.
