Optimis secures approval for 5 flats in Beckenham (London Borough of Bromley)
Following the refusal of the first scheme for the demolition of the existing bungalow and construction of 7 flats, Optimis worked closely with the client, architect and consultants to amend the scheme and address the reasons for refusal that related to design matters, potential of noise and disturbance to neighbouring occupiers, and inadequate information on the impact of the potential loss of floodplain storage.
Despite a number of local objections, the submitted amendments were considered favourably by Officers and consultees, accepting that the proposed changes would result in a proposed development that would respect and respond to the site’s context and “sit comfortably within the plot”, whilst boosting the supply of housing within the Borough and making a contribution towards meeting their 5 year housing land supply.
As the revised application successfully addressed the Council’s previous reasons for refusal, permission was subsequently granted.
