Increase in the Delivery of Affordable Housing

A 12% increase (between 2016/17 to 2017/18) in the number of affordable houses in England has been revealed by new Government figures.

It was announced that 47,355 affordable units were delivered in this timeframe. 90% of these units were new builds – this figure was similar to the previous year.

Of the total number of dwellings delivered, 57% of new affordable home were affordable rent. This equates to 26, 838.

It was also announced that 47% of these affordable homes were funded through Section 106 agreements, with this being an increase since 2014/15.
