Bedford Borough Local Plan 2040 Consultation
Consultation is now taking place on the Local Plan 2040 for Bedford Borough Council.
The consultation will run for a period of 6 weeks from Wednesday 15 June until 5pm on Friday 29 July 2022.
The Local Plan 2040 for the Borough must be based on the government’s Standard Method for calculating housing need. At the moment that has been calculated at 1,355 dwellings each year, or 27,100 dwellings covered by the plan period (2020 to 2040). New employment sites to create a similar number of new jobs must also be found. The number of new dwellings to be allocated in this plan is around 12,275.
The plan’s spatial strategy explains where new land will be allocated to provide the homes and jobs that are needed. It builds on the strategy in the Local Plan 2030, taking into account allocations within that plan as well as others agreed by local communities in their own neighbourhood plans.
