Homes England to use £50 billion of funding to speed up housebuilding

Newly created Homes England, former Homes and Communities Agency, plan to use their £50 billion of funding to speed up house building. Chairman Edward Lister states that a range of methods will be used in order to do this, these include:
‘New finance, modern methods of construction, land, planning and compulsory purchase powers’

The majority of the funding will be used across a broad range of schemes aside from £18.6 billion that is reserved for the governments Help to Buy scheme. Homes England say one of these schemes will be to promote multiple tenure approaches particularly affordable housing and built to rent.
